Fliq for Mac Updated, Now in Mac App Store

Fliq for Mac has been updated, and as a bonus, we also now have version available in the Mac App Store.

Fliq is our handy iOS and Mac/PC desktop software that lets you quickly share notes, tasks, contacts, events, photos and files over a WiFi network.

While the update fixed some outstanding bugs, the more important part is that it has now been updated to support the latest version of Mac OS X, Mountain Lion (10.8).

Due to App Store Sandboxing requirements, the App Store version does not currently support notes. Good news is we plan to address this with a brand new app store compliant version of our notes app! Watch the blog for more on that as it develops.

Check out new UI for Missing Sync 2.0 on Android

For the past few months we have been working on a major update to the Missing Sync application that runs on Android phone and tablets.

This update was released to Google Play earlier this year, and will also be showing up over time on Amazon, Barnes & Noble Nook and BlackBerry PlayBook markets.

The most visitble change, is we have added the ability to control what you sync right from the handheld. Previously, even if you were doing a wireless sync, you still had to decide what would sync via your desktop PC or Mac. Now you choose right from your phone or tablet.

For those who were used to the UI in prior versions of the handheld/mobile side of Missing Sync, we recommend you check out the below video we have created to introduce you to the changes.

Missing Sync for Android Version 2.0 for Mac and PC

Missing Sync 2.0, supporting Android devices such as phones, tablets, and eReaders, is now out for Mac and PC!

What's new?

We have made alot of changes under the hood, incorporating lessons learned producing GoGadget and OEM versions of GoGadget over the past year. You'll find a new Podcasts plugin, and an improved video plugin.

The next improvement you will notice is an all-new 2.0 Missing Sync app for all Android devices running Android 2.0 and later, including devices such as the Amazon Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble Nook, and the BlackBerry Playbook.

The 2.0 device side application has been re-written to move more of the user interface from the desktop, right to the device. You can select what to sync on the device, for each of the data types we support, and the desktop supports having different settings on each of your devices -- for example, if you want to sync contacts and tasks on your phone, but only movies and music on your tablet.

To get the new 2.0 version on your Mac or PC, just pick check for updates inside the application, or visit our downloads page.

Missing Sync gets 1.7 update on Android Market

We have a new 1.7 update to the Android Missing Sync now available on Google Play (formerly known as Android Market), which contains improvements to Proximity Sync, and a fix for an issue that had been seen on select ICS (Android 4.0) devices.

The big improvement, for everyone using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to sync, is that we have dramatically improved how proximity sync works. There are now far more circumstances in which we can tell that the phone or tablet has come within range of the Mac or PC than in previous versions.

For ICS devices, we also fixed an issue where phones that did not have any physical keys were not providing access to the menu containing (among other things) access to the application settings. On tablets and devices with physical keys, this had not been an issue.

Missing Sync on BlackBerry PlayBook

As of today, Missing Sync is now available in App World on the BlackBerry PlayBook.

In our intial release, we are supporting Wi-Fi sync to our Mac and PC versions of The Missing Sync for Android.

With the addition of this sync client on the PlayBook, the following data types can now sync to a Mac or PC running Missing Sync:
  • Videos
  • Pictures
  • Music

And with our Fliq Notes, Tasks, Bookmarks and Calendar apps (free downloads in App World) installed on the PlayBook, you can also sync:
  • Calendar Events
  • Notes
  • Tasks
  • Bookmarks
We are working with RIM developer support to bring support for additional data types (for example, Podcasts) in the future.

While the fact that we use Missing Sync for Android on the desktop side may seem odd, it will make more sense later on. We are planning to merge our current Missing Sync for BlackBerry and Missing Sync for Android into a single Missing Sync product.

If you are a current Missing Sync for Android customer, enjoy this additional device support.

For our Missing Sync for BlackBerry customers on the Mac, you'll notice one big change -- we support the playbook on both Mac and Windows PC!

If you are a past Missing Sync for BlackBerry customer, take advantage of our upgrade pricing for Mac or Windows to get a customer appreciation discount.

Fliq Bookmarks for BlackBerry PlayBook

The latest of our apps to come over to the PlayBook is Fliq Bookmarks.

With Fliq Bookmarks, you can (more easily) manage bookmarks on the device, and if you combine it with Missing Sync for Mac or PC, you can also move your desktop bookmarks over to the PlayBook.

Check it out in BlackBerry App World.

At this point we have one app left to go -- getting Missing Sync on BlackBerry App World. We are very close, and just have a few minor changes to make before it is ready for release.

Fliq Tasks Update for Android

We have recently released a minor bug-fix update to Fliq Tasks in the Android market.

There is one new feature, the ability to edit the color of tasks in the "Unfiled" category, and several bug fixes.

Fliq Tasks and Fliq Calendar for PlayBook

Three down, one to go.

Fliq Tasks and Fliq Calendar are now in BlackBerry App World for the PlayBook.

We are awaiting approval for Missing Sync in the BlackBerry App World.

Once Missing Sync becomes available on the PlayBook, you'll be able to sync the various Fliq apps with your Mac or PC, as well as sync media (video, photos, music).

We'll post to the blog as soon as that happens.

iOS updates to Fliq Notes, Fliq Tasks, Fliq Documents

Our updates to the iPhone/iPod Touch versions of Fliq Notes, Fliq Tasks and Fliq Docs are now live via iTunes and the app store.

All of the apps have had minor bug fixes implemented, tested with iOS 3 thru 5, and updated for iOS 5.

Fliq Notes for BlackBerry PlayBook

RIM has recently updated the BlackBerry PlayBook to version 2, and the update brings an enhanced Android app compatibility feature that we are now supporting.

The first of our Android apps to enter BlackBerry App World is Fliq Notes. Just as on other platforms, we take advantage of the extra screen on the PlayBook to present a nice tablet optimized experience.

Our other Fliq apps and Missing Sync are soon to follow. The combination will allow you to manage notes, tasks and other data types on the PlayBook, and keep them in sync with your Mac or PC.

Fliq Tasks 2.0

Similar to Fliq Notes, we are excited about the major 2.0 re-write of the Android version of Fliq Tasks.

  • Brand new UI optimized for phones, tablets and eReaders (NOOK, Amazon Kindle Fire)
  • Selectable "dark" or "light" UI themes
  • Ability to "star" tasks for priority display and sorting
  • Widgets -- 3 in total, bar, list, and stack
  • Support for devices running Android versions 2, 3 (Gingerbread) and 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
You can download this update from your favorite Android/eReader app store.

Fliq Notes ICS Update

We had blogged about Fliq Notes 2.0 being in beta a while back, and it has both been released and has had several updates since then.

Our most recent 2.0.4 (177) update can be found in all popular markets, and includes support for Android 4.0, "Ice Cream Sandwich" (ICS).

For those coming from the prior 1.x versions, the most noticeable change for the 2.0 update is added support for a new style user interface that accommodates both large format tablets and small format phones. We even take advantage of the 7" "in between" format of the NOOK Color!

Other major new features are:

  • Widgets! And in fact, 3 types of widgets -- bar, stack, and list!
  • Themes -- select a "light" or "dark" display for the app
  • Backup/Restore to SD card
We hope you enjoy this update.

Fliq Calendar ICS Update

Fliq Calendar 1.2.6 is now available via Android Market (and shortly Amazon and NOOK).

This is a small update which fixes some incompatibility issues with, and is required for use with Android 4.0. This latest version of Android, also known by the code name ICS or Ice Cream Sandwich, first appeared on the Galaxy Nexus, and is also now showing up as updates to other phones and tablets, such as the Motorola XOOM.

Mac SMS Log App Update - Faster!

Today we released a minor update to the Mac version of Mark/Space SMS Log, which is a companion app to our Missing Sync line of products. The SMS Log application keeps an archive of text messages of your various phones, allowing you to search, display, and review your mobile phone texts.

It has been a while since we updated the app, and most of the changes are in support of the latest versions of Mac OS and iOS, as well as a very nice performance/speed boost when the app starts up for those with large archives.

To download the latest version, just run the SMS Log app and pick "Check for Updates" inside the app (Mac version).
